I hope you are all well in these uncertain times.
I am emailing to inform you the remainder of the VRGC20 season will be abandoned.
As per my previous email I had postponed the season as I was always conscious that as we were entering the Semi Finals we only had 2 days of bowls left to complete. I was hoping we would be able to fit those in and a get a result. Now although it is great we can be back to some formats of bowls at present there are still restrictions about competition bowls and having more than 4 people on a rink. I am also conscious of the fact that the Pennant season is approaching. Although there is no definite word yet on when (or if) this season will be able to start, we are running out of time before that deadline.
As a result Aspley (Gold), Everton Park, Dayboro and Woodford will split the prize money, with each receiving $697.50.
Thanks again for the season. I hope to see Clubs back again next year for an uninterrupted season.

Message from Events Coordinator
As you may be aware Bowls Australia and Bowls Queensland have recommended suspending all bowls events effective from 17 March 2020. Also in line with the fact that Q7’s and other such events have been postponed, both in our district and neighbouring districts the Chermside Bowls Club has decided to postpone the finals of the Village Retirement Group Challenge. Semi Finals were due to be played on this weekend (21 March) and Grand Final (28 March or reserve day 4 April).
We will continue to monitor Bowls Australia and Queensland Health recommendations on COVID-19. The hope is we get an opportunity to play the final series in the not too distant future. If not we will consider splitting the prize money between the 4 Semi Final teams.
I will keep you posted on further developments.
